One rule decides which side a feature falls on: if it runs on your client's own hardware it is free, and if it consumes our servers or paid API quotas it is not.

Payments are not connected yet
There is no card form and no charge. A paid plan is switched on by hand after a separate arrangement, and its expiry date is visible in your account page. The plan logic itself — which features it covers, expiry, history — is complete, so connecting a payment provider later changes nothing about how it works.
Moving from another monitoring service?
Import your monitors from UptimeRobot or HetrixTools as CSV in the app, and Remote runs free for 90 days — once per account, no card and nothing to cancel. Bring more monitors than the plan allows and all of them are kept: the plan’s worth run, the rest wait paused until you choose which matter. When the 90 days end the plan goes back to free and your checks stay exactly where they are.
Why uptime costs money
Uptime monitoring cannot run on the server it is watching: a server that is down cannot report that it is down. So the checks run from our infrastructure, and that infrastructure has to be paid for. The same goes for the malware check — Google's Web Risk API is a paid service, and the free Safe Browsing API may not be used in a commercial product.
